Earth does not exist. This is a different universe, and here technology got advanced enough for successful gene-tempering. That eventually lead to all kinds of designer babies, including mixing animal with human. Heck being a designer baby is much more common than natural births.

Speaking of that, the ref sheets for her and her mom say that they're human-animal hybrids. How does that work in-universe? Are they the descendants of humans who heavily modified themselves with animal genes, or are they some sort of alien that just happens to resemble an anthropomorphic Earth animal? Is Earth a thing in this universe?
