That is one ironically backwards crime to have done in a free world.

Aaand here we see one of the rare negative side effects of a utopian-low crime rate. Being persecuted for abusive/manipulative tendencies I can understand, but getting disowned for thievery? The poor guy steals a few sentimental trinkets and suddenly he's treated like a bank robber! I've been trying the password recovery for a while but for some reason the confirmation email does not send.

Try checking your spam folder for the confirmation email. If you still can't find anything, stay put. I told my site coder so he should look into it shortly =)

I mean...stealing when everything is free is pretty heinous. Almost worst than stealing when there's money! Try checking your spam folder for the confirmation email. If you still can't find anything, stay put. I told my site coder so he should look into it shortly =)

That's hardly a criminal record, could even be situational or framed (easy to do for theft). Then such persecution would CAUSE repeat offense because it would be hard to find a legit job (happens in RL all the time). Not much of a utopian society if they can't even rehabilitate thieves (and accept them after)... but then again they say such a society is unobtainable.

Well ; Misty was only fighting against Gyra and her brother , and she was close to fail the race . Dunedin had all the racers against him and he's succeed to win : guess he'll be a strong opponent for Misty ....... Then , i love how Misty is tugging Star behind her in the fourth panel to "protect" her from Dunedin

Aand now I wanna see what the network has on Misty.. .
Dunno if I'm reading the entry right, but he had to sit a whole cycle in jail.. Before being convicted and put on extended probation?
Wow - and I thought our court system was slow.
And he's not allowed outside one specific region without a watch-dog - two cycles later?
Seriously, now I really wanna know what this dude allegedly stole and why?

Nice Wikipedia style article, are the sources equally creditable? 😅 Aand now I wanna see what the network has on Misty.. .

Now factor in the soul catcher, which means even after ones organic body gives out, one can live on afterwards.
Assuming the planet hasnt had an apocolypse scale event or large scale war in recent history, the population count on such a world would be massive.
It is quite feasible that the population growth is currently out growing the court system, leading to longer and longer waits for cases to be heard.

Consider for a moment, Starlight is only 3 cycles old, but looks like shes developed into physical maturity (potentially capable of reproducing). There could be a difference in time between their cycle and our year. Then theres a matter of the variety of species, with differing combinations of growth and reproduction rates (both in frequency and number of children), which may not compare with ours. Now factor in the soul catcher, which means even after ones organic body gives out, one can live on afterwards.

And since most of these robots run on the same resources - electricity, internet, and replacement parts - they no longer have to maintain a diverse / fragile resource generating market of crops, land, air, etc. This also applies a greater efficiency on the Kardashev scale, since more research can be dedicated to energy production instead of farming.
The real issue is that this technology, while beneficial, is not fully documented or safeguarded. We saw that Star's body is a serious anomaly in the soul-catching process, with explosive results. What other conditions can cause the system to fail spectacularly? What happens if a virus or system error manages to disable a large number of com-links at the same time?

With the Soul Catcher, supply and demand gets more streamlined to ease the process. A significant portion of the workforce getting brain-uploaded to their comlinks has skills which don't need to be extensively re-trained every generation. This means there is less overall incentive for 'reproduction', which hasn't even been implemented in the cyber frames yet.
